For whomever talks to our debian package maintainer (darren benham):

Currently, debian (at least according to their web page) claims that
libstdc++ is required for abiword. However, as I recall, we haven't used
it for quite some time, and it was officially taken off the requirements
list in the last couple months. someone should inform debian of this.
