In fact, we, Chinese Linux Extension project(CLE),
have patched abiword to full Chinese support.

I think you already have this patch (I read HJ's mail from abiword
mailing list),
but it hasn't been merged into abiword source trees yet (as I know).
Yes, I know this patch is a little ugly, it's a style of
"work-for-me-only" patch. So you must take more time
to review and merge it.
