By The Way I've since been convinced of the need for zero-length runs to
surround generated text in a Field. This was Justin Bradford's suggestion.
It is not that hard implement this on top of Kevin's patch. However now
I'm getting a whole raft of formatting errors. I suspect I'm
misunderstanding something fundamental about how the formatter works. This
might be related to Sam's problems in getting page numbers to work too.
More to learn as usual. I learn best by hacking so off hacking I go..
