Hi all,

I have tried out Abiword and like the program.

However I recently noticed that many web site fonts look much worse. I have
realised that AbiSuite installs a number of fonts with duplicate names to
Microsoft's core fonts.

I use the Microsoft core TrueType fonts since they are of very high quality and
may be freely downloaded and used (the biggest restriction is that they must be
distributed as exe files, but they still can be uncompressed and installed in
Linux).

I don't think it is appropriate for Abiword to install fonts with duplicate
names to an extremely common set of fonts. Instead of using names such as
"Arial" it many be more appropriate to call the fonts "Abi_Arial", etc.

Until Abiword is capable of utilising TrueType fonts, compatibility with
Microsoft Word documents could be maintained by appending "Abi_" to any font
name request within the program. For example, if a document requests the Arial
TTF: When rendering the document Abiword accesses the Abi_Arial font instead.

Unless I can find a way to include the Abiword fonts in my font path without it
affecting other programs I may have to forego using Abiword.

Regards,
Adam
