Added the autoconf stuff to the main tree. Important info:
- If you do not use it, it should NOT affect you. If it does, that is
a VERY serious bug, and I will fix it immediately.
- It *only* works on unix builds currently. Actually, it really only
works on machines with roughly identical setups to mine.
- There are now two makefiles in every source directory. (well,
except the non-unix plaform ones). If you add a file, please add it
to the GNUmakefile.am as well.
- Build instructions, sort of out of date, are in abi/BUILD
- Let me know before you start making significant changes, please.
