Plam took my suggestion -

Disable smart quotes by default
Mark bug as postponed

Properly fixing this requires smarter smart quotes, context recognition,
completely removing remapGlyphs (yay!!!), and some other work. In short,
a complete redesign that I'm not going to endorse for 1.0
