Howdy

 it seems to me that *most* of the times the crashes happen just after the first character of the second word is printed on the screen, but it has crashed as well with the FIRST character.

 So it is not deterministic that it is the first character of the second word.
  Also, it has crashed on a character in the middle of a word.
