I've always used the wrapper script.

The problem here is that we're having X have fonts through the x font
server instead of having X handle fonts.

However, RH's default XF86Config-4 config file does not allow (by lack
of loading the font handling modules) to use xset (because for that you
need X handling fonts, and not the x font server).

RH should load the modules by default, because they do not take that
much more memory and so it won't break the usage of xset.

ON RH 7.x, and 6.2, I believe as well, you have to add the abiword fonts
to the font server config, and restart it.
