Cocoa is in the way

I am checking out the source (instead of just updating) and getting a bunch
of errors like this:

cvs checkout: in directory abi/src/wp/main/cocoa:
cvs checkout: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs server: Updating abi/src/wp/main/cocoa
cvs checkout: move away abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/.cvsignore; it is in the way
C abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/.cvsignore
cvs checkout: move away abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/CocoaMain.mm; it is in the way
C abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/CocoaMain.mm
cvs checkout: move away abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/GNUmakefile.am; it is in the way
C abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/GNUmakefile.am
cvs checkout: move away abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/Makefile; it is in the way
C abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/Makefile
cvs server: Updating abi/src/wp/main/cocoa/bundle

Most are in cocoa directories, but a few aren't. What happened?
