People that don't like them, people that don't like
all of them, or only like them in some fonts.
People who find subtle bugs with them that wouldn't
show up with ligating turned off. Perhaps they'll
work on screen but mess up printing or something hard
to think of in advance.
I think any "smart" things should be able to be
turned off - just like turning off smart quotes.
Of course I like ligatures (:
