i did not realise there was a libpng3, but the real developers probably
know about it. (i have cc'ed the developer list)
unless it has some very compelling features or is inlcuded as standard
with most distributinos it is unlikely that the developers will rush to
use libpng3.
someone will probably add an option to build against libpng3
rather than libpng2 soon but the developers try to be careful about adding
dependecies to very new libraries.
