no, footnotes don't work yet. i have an idea what needs to be done, but i'm not sure i'll have
time to do it. in any case, they work better than they did before this commit, and shouldn't
break anything else. (Use Insert | Endnote to try inserting a footnote, but you'll probably
see Abi crash afterwards.)
