Ok, not 16bit, but I am working on porting it to DOS [slowly] via
DJGPP/GCC 3.03 and Allegro. (Very very early stages!) [reminds me
to update my patches for the configuration system (to add DOS to the
list) and to the couple of files that have platform #ifdefs and see
if they can be committed? too much to do, never enough time :-) ]

perhaps it should be .gzabw or some such, but .abw.gz can cause problems
as I don't think Windows uses more than the part after the last dot for
the extension, so .abw.gz is treated as a .gz file not a .abw.gz file.
[but hey, I've been wrong before and I could be wrong here]
