Honestly, I don't really remember :(

I used to look at where it was, running abiword
through gdb, and doing a Ctrl-C when it stopped for ~2
seconds at startup (the more fonts, the more time it
sucks at startup).

It may be XAP_UnixFontManager::scavengeFonts.
