One of these 2 options should fix your problem:

1) Remove ~/.AbiSuite

or

2) Go to Extra -> Preferences -> Layout
   and disable (and if you like, enable again) the option "Allow custom
   Toolbars"). IIRC you also have to restart AbiWord after this.
