issue with plugins

About doing a fresh checkout/build of abiword and abiword-plugins, all
my plugins have dissapeared. The only one that shows up is ABireferree

When I try to install a new one, the file selector shows "Folder
unreadable: No such file or directory"

Then after I navigate to /usr/lib/AbiWord-2.0/plugins/ and choose one

"Unable to activate/load plugin"

any ideas?
