    I dont even get this far if I build straight from abi for lack of
    depcomp, though configure generates the Makefile, which refs its own
    in. *shrug*

    At least diving make works.

    However, I am not inclined to do anything about it. People building on
    linux or any of the common unices should not be using peer libpng, or
    peer anything (except libiconv in a few cases). We only ship the peer
    modules and maintain them in cvs for the sake of win32 and possibly
    other platforms for which these products are not really supported
    upstream or convenient enuf to build. Get it from your distro or vendor
    or download from the official source. You'll probably have more
    success.
