File->New shortcut

Hi,

is there any reason why there is not shortcut (ctrl-N on UNIX) for
File->New... menu ?

GNOME HIG says it should:

See Table 4.1

In the same way, File->Save is disabled if there is not title for the
document (ie it is unsave). If you don't mind, I'd fix that to comply
with HIG and make it do Save As... in that case.
Save As... too needs a shortcut.

Any *good* reason why this was not the case ?

(this is part of MacOS X fixing since not having this on MacOS X is
unlikely to please Mac users)
