Yeah, they can be. The solultion, of course, is to
subset the fonts.
However, I don't have the time or patience to do that,
and I don't imagine that anyone else does either.
If people want subsetted fonts, they'll have to use
the Gnome version. Gnome print 2.8 supports subsetting
fonts in PS/PDF output.
What we do now will produce obviously correct output,
albeit less-than-optimal output. It's better than the
alternative.
