I was playing around with an unstable version of Ubuntu Live CD (if you
want i can point you to the same out of date unstable and insecure Live
CD I used but I think we should really try and encourage alextreme to
make the binaries he is testing available somewhere). The Live CD version
of Abiword included a whole lot of plugins, and I am reasonably sure that included
the gypsython plugin which provides a limited amount of Python
functionality to Abiword users.

It seems the bounties very often get split into much smaller amounts
shared for all those who work towards the main goal. Improvements and
more documention on how to use gypsython plug-in might be considered as
acceptable work towards the bounty.
If someone that knows and understands gypsython well could take the time
to bring it to the attention of the Ubuntu developers that alone would
probably be helpful.
