Since we talking about stuff for new release, I have another "wish"

Take a look at wvHTML program from vwWare.

I think abiword uses wvWare to read MS word docs.
wvWare in turn uses libgsf to extract ole

Anyway, the wvHTML does not convert embedded jpeg images to png!

I really think abiword should NOT convert jpeg to png or at lease there
should be an option to convert or not to convert.

First of all it add extra CPU time to convert an image.

Secound, the resulting png file is usually much larger than jpeg file.

Maybe it make sence to convert some formates like gif, especially back when
gif format had some kind of patent on it and nobody in open source community
wanted to use gif because if that. Now that patent have expired and
immediately many programs added gif support back.

I am not 100% sure, but I think that when you embed gif into ms Word
document it's automatically converted into png. This does not happened to
jpeg format.

So my "wish" for the new release is to keep jpeg when extracting from Ms
WORD!
