Just as an FYI (since I think moving to GnomePrint is good!), you might want
to check out LASi (<http://eyegene.ophthy.med.umich.edu/lasi/>). Library
based on Pango & FreeType for generating Postscript output - pretty cool!

I have not investigated this in any detail, but I assume GNOME print
will be required for the Pango graphics class, or more precisely, there
is no way we will be able to use Pango with the in house PS driver. I
entirely agree, we should not be wasting our time on the in house driver.
