This is a rough german translation:

"Um sich in die AbiWord Entwickler-Mailingliste einzuschreiben muss
eine Email mit dem Wort subscribe als Text an die Adresse
abiword-dev-request@abisource.com gesendet werden. Danach wird ein
Bestätigungs-Email übermittelt, welches die korrekte Anmeldung
sicherstellt. Die Anleitung dazu ist im Bestätigungs-Email enthalten."

I hope you have been able to make progress and i'd like to emphasize
again that it's very likely to get more/better/faster answers on the
mailing list than sending them to individual developers.

This is a misunderstanding because you wrote that you'd like to import
custom XML. For docbook you would of course like to use our docbook
plugin as a starting point.
