A very interesting suggestion and solution from Michale Peters.

It appears the Computer Modern Fonts are in Fedora Extras. I guess this
makes sense since they can only be downloaded from the web.

Hi.
I'm not on the AbiWord devel list (I don't develop for it) but I
occasionally read it on the intarweb.

I saw this post - I think from you today:

>It's a great pity we can't push Computer Modern Fonts into Fedora

The ttf computer modern fonts are in Fedora Extras.

They are in a package called mathml-fonts

[mpeters@laptop ~]$ ls /usr/share/fonts/mathml/
cmbx10.ttf cmr10.ttf fonts.dir msbm10.ttf wasy10.ttf
cmex10.ttf cmsy10.ttf fonts.scale mtextra.ttf
cmmi10.ttf fonts.cache-1 msam10.ttf SY______.PFB
[mpeters@laptop ~]$

mtextra is also in there.
SY______.PFB is not part of the package (it's a Symbol font) but the
package has a trigger script that runs if Acrobat Reader is installed,
which comes with the Symbol font.

The fonts that we can't include in Extras due to licensing are the
Mathematica 4.1 fonts.

One possible solution to those is to include a shell script
in /usr/share/abiword that a user can run that will fetch them frpm
Wolfram and install them into ~/.fonts - but I kind of have a problem
with shell scripts that grab stuff from an external site that has a non
free license, even if the user executes it manually.

Anyway - for AbiWord 2.4 you can add the following to the spec file:

Requires: mathml-fonts
That way when AbiWord is installed, it will grab the ttf versions of the
computer modern fonts (and the mtextra font) - and the only math display
problem then might be something that requires the Mathematica 4.1 fonts,
I don't know if anything actually does.
