Really what you (Judith) need is a Mac expert rather than an Abiword
expert but hopefully Hub or one of the other Mac users will know the
answers.

Ho, ho. No, these are self-contained documents (essays, book reviews, notes from meetings) and not just information. They have a fair amount of formatting - but I hasten to say that I've received other formatted MSWord documents that came through intact as MSWord files. > Most likely since installing Abiword all Microsoft Word documents > (.doc) > have become associated with abiword. I've rooted and rooted, but for the life of me I can't find a preference setting for this kind of thing in this OS's version of Mail. Nor can I find such a thing in System (that is global) Preferences. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I remember older OSs that allowed you to select 'protocols' for dealing with different kinds of files. Darned if I can find one now. > > The green underlines indicate grammar problems. Frequently the green lines appear in baffling places. I'm a writer by profession and a pretty good copy-editor, so I keep my own MSWord grammar checker off. Didn't know AbiWord had one. > > The apple support pages dont provide much detail about opening > attachments > but perhaps the help included with the program includes more detail > http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=151537 Heh. No, seriously, the on-board help program doesn't help at all in this case. > > Tomorrow perhaps someone more familiar with the Mac will be able to > advise > you but should you find the solution in the meantime please do mail > back and let us know. Most certainly. Thanks for the encouraging words. JudithReceived on Thu Feb 1 04:54:13 2007
