That's what we just did for Evince. At a first moment I didn't like
the idea but I'm getting used to it. Some changes are either too
specific (the packaging bits) or just workarounds to keep
compatibility with maemo outdated libraries (like the case of OS2006
and OS2007).

Just FYI, we've already got 5 people interested in testing/developing
Evince for maemo in this first day we've had the project open.
