as I answered you in

the configure parameters have changed a bit.
Also "configure --help" tells you what to do.

Your command would look like this:
../abiword/configure --prefix=/home/msevior/abidir --enable-debug
--enable-plugins="collab mathview"
CPPFLAGS=/home/msevior/abidir/include
