Hi Ryan,

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but we’re holding a workshop later on this
month where we’ll discuss our ODF support for Office 2007 SP2. I already
invited the OASIS ODF technical committee
(http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200806/msg00075.html), and
we’d also love to have somebody from Abi Word attend if you’d be
interested. I’m not sure who the best contact person is for something
like this, but you’re easy to find online so I thought I’d start with
you – feel free to forward this invitation to anyone else you think
might want to participate.

It’s a free workshop that we’re doing as part of our Document
Interoperability Initiative, to help educate the developer community on
our view of interoperability issues and also to solicit feedback on how
we can work together to improve interoperability. Here are the details:

*Location:* Redmond, WA (Microsoft main campus)

*Date:* Wednesday, July 30, 2008

*Event Activities:*

· Presentations from members of the Office product team, to
explain our approach to ODF support and demonstrate some of the specific
functionality we’re planning.

· Hands-on lab time, to give you an opportunity to try out a
pre-release version of our ODF support.

· Discussion time, so that we can hear your feedback on topics
of interest to document format implementers.

· Hosted dinner event at a nearby location.

If you would like to attend, please reply to this email and I’ll provide
more information on how to register for the event. Space will be
limited, so let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to attend.

This event will provide a unique opportunity to see firsthand how we’re
planning to implement ODF support in Office, and we hope that you’ll be
able to join us.

Best Regards,

Doug Mahugh

A programmer started to cuss
Because getting to sleep was a fuss
As he lay there in bed
Looping 'round in his head
was: while(!asleep()) sheep++;
