Re: gsoc project

Hi!

In my opinion something like this would be quite some duplication of
functionality with the existing abicollab plugin and abicollab.net.

So if you proposed this project because of it's functionality then I
would concentrate more on improving the abicollab integration.

I unfortunately have not yet tested abicollab so I can't tell if there
is any work left. But I just think that features like this only work if
they can be used completely out of the box. Last time I tried a feature
like this, it was the collaboration feature of scribus, and it totally
failed on me. Even for me the gui was completely unintuitive, let alone
for my gf. And even after figuring that out it did not work :-(

So you might want to check the existing abicollab feature and come up
with suggestions to improve that. E.g. the direct connection could be
made gf proof :-) and the jabber method could take the account
information from the "personal info" or e.g. gaim etc...
But you will need more tasks than these to have a gsoc project.

just my thoughts, Fabian
