Old patch to Write activity

Hello:
There are patches to remove old sharing code in the Write activity in
the tickets:
OLPC #8680 http://dev.laptop.org/attachment/ticket/8680/sharing-cleanup.patch
and OLPC #5062 http://dev.laptop.org/attachment/ticket/5062/0001-5062-reduce-tubes-code.patch

There are good reason to not commit this code or was only lack of time?
