Gtk2 vs Gtk3

I have just filed this bug:

It is about refactoring the Gtk2 port to Gtk3.

The reason is that it is A LOT of code in common. Also I fixed some bug
recently that Gtk2 could have benefited from.
(exception is goffice)

I currently have a branch in my local git repository and it seems to
work fine.

I expect some breakage, and possible some hurdles dealing with Gtk <
2.24, but nothing that can't be addressed as most is dealt with.
