The recommended solution is to increase zoom above 100%.
Unfortunately the next level is 150% which is too big and uses the whole
screen but
fonts do look better.
I ask please that you improve the fonts being used and in addition
allow for a custom zoom I can choose. At the least use smaller increments.
BTW, I really love AbiWord. It will be a great program in the future.
