it's mostly macro magic, but the most visible change
is that all object and library files are now in a single
directory rather than splattered all over the tree.
this directory defaults to somewhere inside the abi
tree, but can be changed with
make OUT=/tmp/foo
more improvements/changes will be comming later as i
get more of the automated build system put together,
but this is probably the most significant.
if you're using cvs, you'll need to update your views
of abi, expat, libpng, and zlib. (sorry)
