I think, based on VERY limited knowledge, that the page-numbering issues
are display/dialog related, and have to do more with the footers than the
fields. It should (at least theoretically) be able to create the page
numbers now, and when field format changes, just go from

<section type="footer" id="ftr01">
Page <field type="page-number"> of <field type="page-count">
</section>

to

<section ...>
Page [new field concept] of [new field concept]
</section>

If someone actually has *knowledge* about this subject, that might be
useful, too. :-)
