FWIW, I think the change that disabled static builds was part of Goran
Thyni's patches for... whatever his patches were for, I don't remember. We
had problems with Tinderbox after those patches, and I think he (Goran)
theorized that that was part of the problem at the time.
So don't be so hard on yourself. :)
