This patch appears to have broken the build, at least for me. Curently,
the linux compile crashes on the linking stage. the errors i am getting
are as follows:

I may be wrong about the source of the problem, but of the patches
recently subitted, it seemed by far the closest. Hope this helps someone
fix this.
