The code all looks good and nice, except . . .

This makes my version (even w/ realclean) very unhappy. It works the
first time, but then turns off DebugFlash, kills lots of my prefs, and
then won't start.
**** (3) Assert ****
**** (3) UT_SHOULD_NOT_HAPPEN at xap_Prefs.cpp:423 ****
**** (3) Continue ? (y/n) [y] : y

That's not a nice startup message.

It think it has to do with much of the end of the prefs file getting
summarily chopped off on shutdown.

It also asserts on shutdown the first time (the time w/ DebugFlash).

Hope you can fix this, the code looks good.
