Subject: Status of fields?

I'm trying to get an accurate reading about the current status of
effort on fields. I have reviewed the relevant email list postings
from March and April.
It *looks* like Keith made a decent start at a new architecture for
fields, but has been unavailable for several weeks.
Justin has been involved in the discussions, and gives the impression
that he wants to hack on this area.
So now I'm curious -- does this task have an active owner?
