Yeah, I looked at CVS and it says that it was Eric's fault. However, that
function (and several nearby) are interesting in that they have as their
first line

UT_ASSERT(UT_SHOULD_NOT_HAPPEN);

which suggests that we shouldn't call them ( :-) or should remove some of
the asserts.
