Go to

I tested this using a build from earlier this week and things seemed to
work just fine. I then tried it on AbiWord 0.7.11, which did indeed have
the problem described.

Conclusions after further testing:

Yeah, this is bug pretty weird. I don't really know what the difference is
between building "AbiWord Personal" and building an official version of
"AbiWord", but whatever it is, it seems to make all the difference when it
comes to using the .strings files.

If I use AbiWord 0.7.11 or AbiWord 0.7.10, I see the problem described,
menus are correct but dialogs are in English (tested using "it-IT" and a
few others).

But, on any version of AbiWord personal, things work okay, including the
builds from between 0.7.10 and 0.7.11 (In other words, it was not simply a
bug in 0.7.11 that has since been fixed). My guess is that another AbiWord
Non-Personal build would still have the same problem.

Keep in mind that "AbiWord" and "AbiWord Personal" delete each other's
preferences when you run them, so be careful when switching back and forth.
