fixed some compiler weirdness with function pointer called from C++
when using MrCPP (Apple C++). Fixes condtionnal to only affect MrCPP
build

another MrCPP const weirdness. Casted return value to make it happy.
scope is limited to the function. Should not affect Tinder Box
