Hi folks,

when a release archive of the source is put together, the one doing that
should remember to run autogen.sh before creating the archive. End users
should not need to have autoconf/automake/libtool/etc installed.

The one doing this should probably have a fairly recent autoconf/automake
install (2.50 and 1.4p4 would be ideal). If nobody else steps up, I could
do it for you.
