MSVC makes no difference.
Run from the MSVC debugger and look for any debug
messages relating to .strings files, translations
of individual strings, etc.

Depends. What do you need? I'm old-school and still
print debug messages to find bugs (: But I've found
MSVC debugger pretty good.
