Subject: Commit: diable background colors

Now we only print background colors to the screen (not to paper). This is a
1 line change that is easily backed out or propegated upward.
I've also #if 0'd out the 10 lines of code causing all of our excessive
flicker and redraw until either:
1) after the next release when we can devote time to fixing this or
2) someone (maybe me or martin) fixes those aforementioned bugs
