mainly BIDI bug fixes and improvements. However, I also changed
the appearance of the "right arrow" cursor in GDK based builds (I
need a corresponding "left arrow" for the bidi build, and the
previously used GDK_ARROW does not have a mirror equivalent);
should this change offend peoples aestetic feelings, we can always
revert it.
