This is a cool neat little idea partially stolen from MSWord.

Say you have some bold italic text, followed by some plain text:

bold italic text
boring normal text

Select the "bold italic text". Hit "copy". Select "boring normal text".
Press the "format painter" icon (paintbrush) on the toolbar (you may
have to turn off editable toolbars to get it to show up the first
time...). "boring normal text" is now bold and italic.

bold italic text
boring normal text

Cool, eh?

Dom
