I would very much like to see 1.0.3 be released within one week. The
1.0.x series should very much live on and continue to be worked on, at
    least in "maintainer-mode."

While bug 3519 is a very important meta-bug, I believe the bugs it
lists as blockers are actually blockers for the 1.0.x series actually
being considered "complete" as opposed to it meaning that 1.0.3 is
ready for public consumption. Many fixes have gone into STABLE and
these really need to get out to users ASAP, as is shown by both the
large number of bugs closed and the considerable user response calling
for us to release STABLE as an official release. If we move quickly
enough, we might even get 1.0.3 included in the RH 8.0 release, which
    would be cool.

FWIW, CVS HEAD will be called "2.0" when it is sufficiently mature and
    not "1.2".

    Cheers,
    Dom
