TTF make no different between CJK or Latin fonts. So when
TTF was supported, CJK should have been supported too. I
remember saw in gnome-print list of some work on CJK support
lately (a few months).
Well, for CID-keyed fonts. I saw no free/good CID-keyed fonts
for CJK. I use ghostscript with cjk-gs and TTF. The TTF is
bridged as a CID-keyed fonts in ghostscript.
