OK Hubert:
The advice you gave worked :-). The lockups with the header are gone. Here
is what I did:
I first installed ~/libiconv and then ~/psiconv and ~/wv. I then did
ldconfig.
Next I went into ~/abi and did make clean then:
LIBS="-liconv" configure
make all
make install (as root)
then ldconfig (as root again)
I had to use configure first and then, when make failed, LIBS="-liconv"
configure. Then ~/abi would make all.
