    I looked at the screenshot*
    That regression again!

Something seems to be happening at the moment with people changing the
line breaks to unix format, i think there is or was a recent bug report
about this. (I should probably file a bug against NSIS too but dont cop
out on me and blame NSIS this is a regression).

my old bug report about this from way back when we did not even use NSIS
    http://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3664

cannot find the more recent complaints about this tho'

There are a few things i should discuss about the windows installer.
The "update registry settings" should not be shown. If i recall it was
added to fix something a previous installer might have done.

Should minimal installation even include shortcuts? and if so should it
really include both desktop and start menu shortcuts? I think minimal
installer should include only Abiword.exe and a single shortcut probably
    on the desktop.

Full install really should be full and include everthing.
i thought it had been changed but apparently not. (i would have sworn i
verified it with a nightly build).

If i have peoples agreement and can find some time i will try and fix some
of installer issues myself in time for 1.0.5 release.

    Sincerely
    Alan Horkan

    * why didn't i just look at the attachment the first time? i use a
command line mailer on a remote machine i have to mess about and move
attachments to my webspace if i want to view them. I would much prefer if
people would send links instead of attachements.

Jpeg is not suited to screenshots that dont contain photographs, and if
your screenshot has lots of text the artifacts added by jpeg dont look
great. You will get way smaller screenshots if you reduce the amount of
colours. This can easily be done in mspaint by saving as a 16 colour
bitmap image, and then resaving as a more web friendly format such as PNG
(mspaint does not support png unfortunately GIF is more suitable than than
JPEG). If you have a gradient in your window toolbar the screenshot wont
look as good at reduced colours but all the relevant information will
still be there and it will be clearer than a jpg.
